With over 30 years in the martial arts, Melody has achieved many accomplishments in her Martial Arts journey, including dedicating a lot of her time researching and developing some of the best methods for teaching children.
In 2000, Melody presented her first innovative program, the Little Ninjas, to the Martial Arts industry. Today that program is operating in over 2,000 schools.
Melody’s latest career move is the development of her age-specific curricula branded as SKILLZ. The very first of its kind, SKILLZ is getting a lot of attention for its systematic approach to skill-based Martial Arts training, and is endorsed by some of the nation’s leading child psychologists, including the late Dr. Ruth Peters. Currently there are over 1100 licensed SKILLZ schools on almost every continent.
Melody resides in St. Petersburg Florida. She has a young son named Van.

John Salama is a 6th degree in ITF TaeKwonDo. He has been training for over 30 years. John owned his first martial art school at the age of 18, while he was in college finishing his BSEE.
Currently, John, along with his wife, Jennifer, owns and operates Atlanta Skillz in the Atlanta area, which serves as the Headquarters school for SKILLZ Worldwide .
John teaches TaeKwonDo, SKILLZ, and Skillz Fit. He also has 11 team members working for him.
Staff & Systems Development Specialist
Kelly Murray-Grys is a 6th degree black belt in Isshin Ryu Karate and has been a force in the martial arts industry for over 20 years. She is the former Director of Franchise Training for iLoveKickboxing; a multi million dollar franchise concept which she helped to grow from the beginning.
Kelly has served as a Leadership & Confidence coach specializing in helping individuals and CEO’s level up their influence and create infrastructures that help generate massive success. Kelly and her husband, Chris (a business consultant for the fitness industry) also hold high level, confidence-building, interactive, on-site workshops and trainings that help business owners learn the skills to properly lead and manage their teams.
She has shared the stage as a speaker with masterminds and entrepreneurs like Daymond John, JP Sears, Grant Cardone, Joe Polish, Michael Bernoff, Bedros Keuilian, Cameron Herold, Sean Stevenson, Jesse Itzler, and more.
SKILLZ Lead Consultant
Mike started following Melody Johnson’s practices in the early 2000’s as a Future Kidz member, and is now a Lifetime Gold Skillz member. In addition to a degree in Massage Therapy that provides a solid science background, Mike has attended hundreds of hours of training with Melody in order to learn about the science and psychology of working with children.
Mike has been training in the martial arts since 1985, and is the owner of 4GK Martial Arts in Patchogue NY. He also recently opened Skillz of Patchogue, a child development center focusing on the Skillz methodologies.
Mike serves as the Lead Consultant for Skillz Worldwide, as well as providing business, mindset, and curriculum coaching for Skillz members.
Child Development & Parenting Expert
Jennifer is a 4th-degree black belt and has been training in martial arts since 2001. She has a Masters Degree in Child Psychology.
She has embraced the SKILLZ curriculum because of its focus on child development and using martial arts as a vehicle to develop the child as a whole.
Jennifer owns, along with her husband John, Atlanta Skillz, which serves as the Headquarters school for SKILLZ Worldwide.
